Farmer's Harvest is first and foremost, a neighborhood store. Sad but true, gone are the days when you knew the people who owned your local grocery store. There were, and still are, huge benefits to knowing those who are responsible for offering up the food that keeps you and your family fed. So let's say you bought some baby arugula, got it home, and didn't like the taste? What if you could go back to where you bought it, and ask the owner for something else in its place? The owners, whom you've been known to share a glass of wine with in the store from time to time, and with whom you've been doing business every week for years, sends you home with some baby romaine (because he knows what you like, and he's sure you'll prefer the milder taste) and a recipe for pesto made with baby arugula...just in case you feel adventurous enough to try it again in the future.

Care for a little known, but interesting fact? In the history of American Literature, there are more scenes written around the Dining Room table than any other setting. Why, you ask? Because it's where we connect, where we keep tabs on each other, where we get to know one another. Food is a cultural glue, of sorts, for us. So here we are...let's get to know each other. We're regular Joes (pun intended) - actually, we're Joe and Joel, we grew up in Orange County, and we're proud of it. This little pocket of California has been home to us for our entire lives, and that's why we chose to open our flagship store here. More importantly for you, we vowed to ourselves that we would put our community, your neighborhood, at the top of our priority list. We'll ensure that you always have a way to make your voice heard, be it through suggestions, comments, or requests. Whether it's in person at the store, through email, our Blog, Twitter, Facebook, or Yelp - we want to hear from you so that we can make sure we're doing our very best for you. After all, we're feeding you and your families, and we have families too. We understand the importance of listening to you, our customer, because you're key to our success.

So that's the foundation for our organization, but what about everything else? Well let's just say this - we can assure you that our quality products will broaden your flavor profile, and our prices and service will take you back in time...like before the days of hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup.

Some, if not most, of our offerings come direct from companies that you won't find in other grocery stores because we take pride in aligning ourselves with some of the best kept secrets in the food industry. We're also doing our part to make sure that our little neighborhood store isn't just looking out for your community, but for your environment too. Have you ever heard of night curtains? They get draped over the refrigeration units at night so as to not to allow any cool air to escape from the units, ultimately saving energy each day...like environmentally conscious blankets. We've outfitted the entire retail floor with high efficiency lighting and high efficiency refrigeration units with night curtains. We're going to push to communicate with you about store news and specials via the web, instead of printing mass amounts of paper mailers.

So why do we think that our place is so different? Allow us to give a few more examples...Our Fresh Station gives our customers an opportunity to make their own fresh squeezed OJ and Peanut Butter right before their eyes - where else can you do that? Also, our store will have two different places for our customers to taste our quality products and favorite recipes. First will be a dedicated area for demonstrating recipes, and the second being a beer and wine tasting area - designed to showcase our favorite craft brewers, specialty winemakers, coffeemakers, and industry experts. This area will give customers some breathing room to sit down and relax, learn about the featured products, and try it for themselves.
